What is your GOOD IDEA?:
We are an anonymous trio creating a publication/zine dedicated to contemporary artists in our region and beyond. We are also focused on creating an online artist index, highlighting the skills and talent artists bring to our community. The index provides a much needed place for artistic talent to be represented, appreciated and hired! We will produce quarterly zines with the potential to print a publication of the index. Each zine will have a similar format but will be based on different themes each quarter. Dynamic themes are intended to challenge the reader and contributing artists alike. Within this framework, we hope to be a catalyst for critical discussion, broader artistic representation and authentic promotion of artists.
How would your idea make you COME ALIVE?
Challenging and boundary pushing art has the ability to make everyone COME ALIVE! It conjures a reaction that can infinitely change our perspective. As our perspectives change, we grow.
We value professionalism, fair compensation, representation and above all, diversity of all kinds.
As a trio, we bring together experiences from around the country in music, design, illustration, business and administration. For all of us personally, we find strength in collaboration and power in thought provoking art.
We are extremely passionate about bringing contemporary art to this region. This region is extremely limited in the types of art available for consumption. Without a more diverse art experience, people leave and feel unfulfilled.
How will your IDEA impact our community?:
When professional artists live in a supportive environment with high standards, they thrive and everyone in the community benefits. Our idea brings new voices and fresh ideas to stoke and sustain the creatives in our region. In addition to those who may or may not yet appreciate contemporary art and artists. The more we can reach the outsiders and bring them in, the more successful we will be.
Our goal is to make regional artists more visible in our community. This idea has the power to give artists of all kinds the ability to collaborate, network and ideate.
What stage is your idea in RIGHT NOW?
We are in the beginning stages of our plan. We decided on a framework of an online and print presence, taking place quarterly. Our mission is to elevate and support contemporary artists in our region and beyond.
How can we (the audience) get involved or support?:
Support local artists anyway you can! Tell your artist friends we are creating an index and looking for contributors.
