Gladys Muñoz was born in Puerto Rico and holds a bachelor degree in Home Economics and Child Development from the University of Puerto Rico and a Masters in Science Administration from Central Michigan University. Gladys lived in Japan for three years and has traveled extensively in Ghana, Peru, Bolivia, Nicaragüa, Mexico and Europe. She moved to Traverse City in 1987 and became actively involved with the northern Michigan Hispanic immigrant and migrant community. In 2013 Gladys Muñoz received the Sarah Hardy Humanitarian Award. Gladys offers language interpretation services through her business: Language and Cultural Awareness Services of Northern Michigan. She also organizes and directs the non-profit Justice and Peace Advocacy Center. JPAC strives to meet emergency, social and integration needs of the local immigrant/migrant community.
